Google recently quietly announced the pricing information for its video generation AI model, Veo2, which was first revealed last December. This new model has attracted considerable attention.
According to Google's pricing page, the cost of using Veo2 is 50 cents per second, which means a video costs $30 per minute and up to $1800 per hour.
Jon Barron, a researcher at Google DeepMind, made an interesting comparison regarding this pricing. He mentioned the production budget of the highly acclaimed Marvel movie "Avengers: Endgame," which was a staggering $356 million, equating to about $32,000 per second.
Of course, users may not necessarily use every second of the video generated by Veo they pay for. Moreover, Veo2 is unlikely to immediately produce a three-hour "Avengers" epic movie. Google emphasized Veo2's capability to generate short clips lasting two minutes or more, allowing users to obtain high-quality video content in a shorter time frame.
It is worth noting that OpenAI recently launched its video generation model, Sora, which requires subscribers to pay a monthly fee of $200 for the ChatGPT Pro version to access this service. This makes Veo2's pricing relatively competitive in the market.
Key Points:
🎥 The video generation cost of Veo2 is 50 cents per second, with a maximum cost of $1800 per hour.
🎬 Compared to the $32,000 per second production cost of Marvel's "Avengers: Endgame," Veo2's pricing appears very reasonable.
💡 The subscription fee for OpenAI's Sora model is $200 per month, giving Veo2 a competitive edge in the market.
