Dev Ittycheria, President and CEO of MongoDB, stated in a press release that Voyage AI's technology will be deeply integrated with MongoDB, effectively reducing the workload for developers in managing external embedded APIs, independent vector stores, or complex search pipelines. This integration allows developers to focus on building high-quality AI applications without dealing with cumbersome technical details.

Voyage AI is highly regarded within the Hugging Face community, particularly for the performance of its zero-shot models. Ittycheria emphasized that combining Voyage AI's retrieval capabilities with MongoDB will enable organizations to more easily develop more accurate and reliable AI applications, avoiding unnecessary complexity.

The integration process will be divided into three phases. In the first phase, Voyage AI's text embedding, multi-modal embedding, and re-ranking models will be widely available through existing APIs and the AWS and Azure marketplaces. In the second phase, MongoDB will directly embed Voyage AI's functionality into MongoDB Atlas, particularly for automated embedding services for vector search, which will automatically handle embedding generation, greatly simplifying the process for developers. Finally, MongoDB will add advanced AI retrieval capabilities and enhance multi-modal functionalities, further improving the overall capabilities of the product.
