Wellsenn XR reported that Alibaba has officially finalized its AI smart glasses project and is accelerating recruitment and team expansion. The project, led by the Tmall Genie team within Alibaba's Intelligent Information Business Group, aims to launch smart glasses with hardware specifications surpassing Ray-Ban Meta's offerings.

Reportedly, Alibaba's AI smart glasses utilize a dual-chip, dual-system architecture featuring Qualcomm's AR1 chip and Hengxuan's BES2800, optimizing power consumption and battery life. The camera uses the same Sony IMX681 CMOS (12MP) as the Ray-Ban Meta, with modules provided by Lixing and the entire device assembled by Luxshare Precision.

Alibaba plans to launch two versions: an AI smart glasses model without a display and an AI+AR smart glasses model with a display, with the AI+AR version prioritized. The AR version will employ surface relief grating diffraction waveguide technology and feature a single green Micro LED optical engine module to enhance display quality. In terms of AI functionality, the glasses will deeply integrate Alibaba's flagship AI application, "Quark," leveraging the Tongyi large language model to upgrade traditional search into an "AI Super Frame" experience that combines AI dialogue, in-depth research, and task execution.

This move signifies Alibaba's further expansion into the AI and AR fields and could challenge Meta's position in the smart glasses market.
