Renowned analyst Kuo Ming-Chi recently stated that, based on supply chain conditions, he expects Apple's MacBook shipments to decline by 25% to 35% year-over-year in the fourth quarter of 2022. He anticipates that the annual MacBook shipments for 2022 will significantly drop by about 30% compared to the previous year, reaching approximately 17 million units. Kuo Ming-Chi attributes this primarily to the absence of new MacBook launches in the fourth quarter, as well as the MacBook currently facing multiple challenges such as the waning demand for work-from-home (WFH) setups and the diminishing appeal of the M-series chips to consumers. Kuo Ming-Chi warns that for AI companies that are also key suppliers to MacBook, investors should prudently assess whether their performance can offset the substantial decline in MacBook shipments when considering their AI server revenue. Overall, Kuo Ming-Chi advises caution when viewing AI stocks that are major suppliers to MacBook.
