The contractors of Google have joined the Alphabet Workers Union (AWU) to protest against Google's retaliatory layoffs against colleagues attempting to form a union. This decision was made after a 26-2 vote under the supervision of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in the United States. The NLRB's ruling determined that Google and Accenture are joint employers in the Google Content Creation Operations (CCO) team in the United States. In this vote, the contractors decided to form a union with AWU to fight for better wages, benefits, and legal protections. Google stated that it should not be involved in the petition to form a union, but the NLRB concluded that "Accenture and Google are joint employers of the petitioners."
