SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son told investors last week that he believes it will only take three years to achieve a "super artificial intelligence" with an intelligence level 10,000 times that of humans.
At the company's annual shareholders' meeting, he stated that super intelligence could arrive within three to five years, but he predicts that within a decade, super intelligence will completely transform society—one obvious change being robots replacing logistics.
The CEO assured investors that AI will not disrupt SoftBank; instead, SoftBank will adapt to using AI and develop the technology that powers it.
He told them that chip design company Arm (of which SoftBank is the majority shareholder) will profit from AI and continue to make progress in the cloud computing field after already securing most major hyperscalers as customers.
