According to the report, a total of 2,650 impersonated DeepSeek domains were discovered between December 1, 2024, and February 3, 2025. This wave of impersonated domain registration activities started on January 26, 2025, peaking on January 28.

The US Copyright Office released a report highlighting the new threats posed by artificial intelligence in the copyright field, particularly the serious risks of AI-driven impersonation to entertainment, politics, and ordinary citizens. The report indicates that almost anyone can easily and cheaply create false digital replicas, damaging reputations and livelihoods. Given the urgency of this issue, the Copyright Office recommends the establishment of new laws to clearly define responsibilities, with protections extending at least through an individual's lifetime and not limited to commercial use. The Copyright Office urges Congress to expedite the legislative process and offers suggestions to guide revisions of relevant bills.

This initiative utilizes McAfee's AI deepfake audio detection technology, named 'Mockingbird', to detect deepfake technologies generated by AI that defraud consumers through audio scams and prevent false news and other fraudulent schemes. The project employs AI deepfake audio detection techniques, integrating context, behavior, and category detection models for accuracy.
