Project Green Light is an AI-driven initiative developed by Google's research team aimed at reducing traffic congestion and stop-and-go scenarios by optimizing traffic light timing, thereby decreasing vehicle emissions. This project uses driving trend data from Google Maps to create an AI model that analyzes traffic flow and identifies opportunities for traffic light optimization. Cities can implement these recommendations quickly and easily without investing in new hardware or software. Currently, it has been implemented at over 70 intersections, with the potential to reduce stop counts by up to 30% and intersection emissions by up to 10%.
