Recently, Humane announced a $200 price reduction for its newly launched AI Pin smart device in an attempt to improve its sales performance. The product, originally launched earlier this year at $699, is now priced at $499.
Although this price is relatively affordable, the "eclipse" model made of black aluminum does not come with additional batteries or a charging case. In fact, the company has specifically warned consumers that due to potential fire safety hazards in some supplier batteries, AI Pin users should not use charging cases.
Of course, if you need extra batteries, you can purchase them separately for $69. However, despite the price drop, AI Pin still requires a monthly wireless subscription fee of $24. Earlier, the smart device received generally unfavorable reviews, with many users expressing disappointment with its features. To improve user experience, Humane has updated the device's CosmOS software multiple times, adding missing features such as timers.
Nevertheless, AI Pin's market performance remains poor. It has been reported that for several months, the number of daily returns even exceeded sales, indicating significant challenges in the market. Additionally, in Humane's store, both the white and black aluminum versions (referred to as "lunar" and "equinox") are still available, with the complete system priced at $799, but both models are currently sold out. The complete system includes an extra battery pack and a charging case.
For many tech enthusiasts, while AI Pin is innovative, issues with its price, functionality, and market acceptance still need further improvement to win over consumers.
