According to a report by Bloomberg's well-known journalist Mark Gurman, Apple's new smart home hub device, commonly referred to as the "HomePad" or "Apple Command Center," may be delayed in its launch. This highly anticipated device was originally scheduled to be released in Spring 2024 (March), but the timeline may be affected due to delays in the development of its core feature, Apple Intelligence.

The "HomePad" will feature a 6-inch square display with a thicker bezel and a camera on top. Additionally, it will come with a rechargeable battery, making it convenient for users to utilize in various environments. The device will run on a brand new Apple operating system—homeOS—designed to support video calling applications (like FaceTime) and seamless integration with multiple Apple apps.

Although the device has garnered significant attention and Apple seems close to the launch phase, Gurman pointed out that the development challenges related to the Apple Intelligence feature may lead to a delay in the final release date.

Gurman also mentioned that the operating system for this device is codenamed "Pebble," and its functionality is closely tied to the upcoming "App Intents" feature set to launch in iOS 18.4 and iOS 19, which will also impact the official release of the hardware.
