One of the most notable new features in Windsurf Wave3 is the support for Model Context Protocol (MCP). The core AI workflow system of the Windsurf editor, Cascade, can now integrate with external data sources. Users can configure this in the Windsurf settings through a standardized MCP server, allowing Cascade to access and utilize structured data as a tool in its workflow. This feature is currently available only to individual users, with support for teams and enterprise users to be rolled out soon.

In addition to MCP support, Windsurf Wave3 also adds the “Tab-to-jump” feature, allowing users to easily move the cursor to suggested positions in the code using the “Tab” key. All users can now enjoy unlimited autocomplete and super-complete suggestions, while paid users can access unlimited Tab jump suggestions and a “Quick Mode” to enhance performance.

Another highlight is the Turbo Mode, where Cascade can now execute terminal commands autonomously without user confirmation, greatly simplifying the iteration process. Additionally, users can drag and drop images directly into the editor, streamlining workflows that involve multiple inputs, such as website building or design conversion.

For paid users on macOS, Windsurf Wave3 also offers the ability to customize application icons, allowing users to personalize their editor.

In terms of model support, this update integrates new models such as DeepSeek-v3, DeepSeek-R1, o3-mini, and Gemini2.0Flash, providing various performance and cost benefits. Meanwhile, a pre-release version of Windsurf is available for early users to test new features before the stable version is launched.

As Codeium's flagship product, Windsurf combines generative AI capabilities with developer-specific features such as code completion, terminal automation, and multimodal input handling. Codeium continues to advance AI-enhanced development environments, with thousands of businesses using Windsurf, showcasing its leadership in the field of AI-driven development tools.
