According to reports from Reuters, the South Korean government has not yet determined which brands or models of GPUs it will purchase. However, officials from the Ministry of Science and ICT have revealed that details regarding the budget, GPU models, and participating private companies are expected to be finalized by September this year. This large-scale procurement plan will provide strong computing power support for South Korea's future AI development.

Currently, the global GPU market is highly competitive, especially in the fields of generative AI and accelerated computing, where Nvidia holds nearly 80% of the market share, far ahead of competitors like Intel and AMD. With the rising demand, many countries and companies are seeking to establish or upgrade their own AI computing capabilities. South Korea's procurement plan will enhance its competitiveness in AI technology research and application.

Additionally, OpenAI is also advancing its plan to reduce reliance on Nvidia chips, accelerating the development of its own AI processing chips, which are expected to be completed and produced by TSMC in the coming months.
