According to foreign media reports, veteran domain broker Larry Fischer is seeking a buyer for the highly valuable domain ai.com on behalf of an anonymous client, with an asking price of $100 million. If successful, this sale would far surpass all known records for domain transactions.
Fischer, 62, boasts nearly 30 years of experience in the domain trading industry and has facilitated numerous high-value deals. His successes include the sale of Messenger.com to Facebook, Skincare.com to L'Oréal, Teams.com to Microsoft, and Chat.com to HubSpot co-founder Dharmesh Shah, who later resold it to OpenAI.
Reports indicate that the current owner of ai.com is choosing to remain anonymous but revealed that the domain was initially purchased simply because it matched their initials, not anticipating the explosive growth of artificial intelligence technology.
Fischer suggests that tech giants including OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, and Meta, as well as cryptocurrency tycoons, could be potential buyers for this prized domain.
The current highest known domain sale is Voice.com, which MicroStrategy sold for $30 million in 2019. If ai.com sells near its asking price, it would set a new record, more than tripling the previous highest sale.
