Viam, an engineering platform focused on data, AI, and automation, announced a $30 million Series C funding round led by existing investor Union Square Ventures, with participation from Battery Ventures, European investment group Neurone, and other existing investors. This brings Viam's total funding to $117 million since its inception.

“We are incredibly fortunate to partner with Union Square Ventures, who are doubling down on our mission,” said Eliot Horowitz, founder and CEO of Viam. “We also look forward to working with Neurone to further our global ambitions, particularly expanding into Italy and other parts of Europe.” In 2024, Viam expanded its customer base across various sectors including robotics, quick-service restaurants, climate tech, marine, and industrial manufacturing.

Last October, Viam forged an innovative partnership with the New York Islanders and UBS Arena, becoming the arena's official AI technology partner. Viam's software will enhance the fan experience across various aspects of the arena. Additionally, Viam partnered with leading marine manufacturer Viking Yachts and launched a pilot program with global technology provider Kongsberg Discovery to leverage AI to improve sonar technology in the fishing industry. Viam's clients also include Sbarro, Swiss nuclear engineering firm Transmutex, automated kitchen company Appetronix, and smart workplace safety platform CompScience.

“Viam is bridging a critical gap between AI, data, and the many devices we interact with every day,” said Albert Wenger, Partner at Union Square Ventures. “Eliot and his team are building a world-class company right here in NYC, and we’re thrilled to continue supporting them.” Furthermore, the participation of Neurone provides significant support for Viam's expansion into the European market. Neurone's co-investors include family offices of leading Italian industrialists actively exploring the future of their industry and the technologies driving it.

“We work directly with leading Italian industrial families who are thinking about the future of their industry and the technologies driving it,” said Teodoro D’Ambrosio, founder of Neurone. “Viam is building this critical software layer, and we’re excited to partner with Eliot and the team to advance this vision.” Viam's technology platform enables hardware and software engineers to collaborate, developing technological solutions for various devices and intelligent machines in the physical world. Founded in 2020 by Eliot Horowitz, former CTO of MongoDB.
