Shengshu Technology specializes in multi-modal technology. Its founder, Zhu Jun, is a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Tsinghua University and the vice-president of the Tsinghua University Institute for Artificial Intelligence. In April 2024, the company launched Vidu, China's first video large language model, considered the world's first product comparable to Sora. Vidu 2.0, released in January 2025, increased video generation speed to under 10 seconds and reduced costs to less than half the industry average.

Luo Yihang's appointment signifies that the AI video generation sector has reached a crucial stage of technological maturity and commercialization. The company has also recently recruited Wang Chuan as vice president of commercialization and Liu Tingting as head of brand marketing to strengthen its commercial capabilities.

2025 is considered the first year of commercialization for AI video, and companies deploying multi-modal technologies are accelerating the commercialization of their technology, products, and organizational structures.
