Anthropic has announced a new subscription plan for its AI chatbot, Claude, called Claude Max. This new plan is seen as a direct response to OpenAI's ChatGPT Pro, which costs $200 per month. The launch of Claude Max signifies Anthropic's further expansion into the high-end AI market.

Claude Max offers two pricing options: a $100 per month Max tier, offering 5 times the usage limit compared to Anthropic's own Claude Pro ($20/month), and a $200 per month option with 20 times the usage limit of Claude Pro. This caters to users with higher demands for AI services.

Unlike OpenAI's ChatGPT Pro, which offers unlimited usage, Anthropic hasn't yet introduced an unlimited plan. Scott White, the company's product lead, stated that while there are no unlimited plans currently, more high-end subscription options may be introduced in the future. User feedback will continue to guide the company's product direction.

Furthermore, to address the high costs of developing cutting-edge AI models, Anthropic is actively exploring other revenue streams. Their "Claude for Education" program, aimed at providing universities with specific features and benefits to meet their AI needs in education, has garnered industry attention.

While Anthropic hasn't disclosed specific Claude subscription numbers, White noted that the company's newly launched Claude 3.7 Sonnet AI model has generated significant market demand. Claude 3.7 Sonnet, Anthropic's first reasoning model, is more reliable in handling certain problems, although computationally more expensive, its application prospects are highly anticipated.

With the continued growth of the AI market, Anthropic's Claude Max subscription plan not only strengthens its competitive advantage but also provides opportunities for exploring new revenue streams.
