Before founding Listen Labs, Alfred Wahlforss and Florian Juengermann, the company's two founders, co-created BeFake, an image-generating application, demonstrating a deep commitment to understanding customer needs. While BeFake enjoyed initial success, the founders realized they wanted a more efficient way to directly communicate with and understand their customers to improve their products.
Wahlforss recalls, "We desperately wanted to know how to get customers to stick around. Then it hit us: what if we could use AI to talk to every single one of our customers and understand their thoughts on the product?" This idea sparked the Listen Labs prototype, quickly proving its potential and ultimately leading the founders to shift their focus to the market research industry.

Listen Labs' technology doesn't just use AI for conducting interviews; its AI models also seamlessly translate between multiple languages. For example, when conducting customer research for Canva, the AI can communicate with customers in dozens of different languages and quickly translate the results into English. Florian Juengermann points out that a product like Listen Labs was nearly impossible in the early days of ChatGPT. "The first version of ChatGPT couldn't even formulate coherent questions or follow instructions.
