Mental health startup Yung Sidekick has secured $825,000 in pre-seed funding to develop an AI platform tailored for mental health professionals. The platform can capture therapy sessions' audio and automatically generate records, with AI extracting progress notes and detailed therapy reports for electronic health records within two minutes.

The goal of the Yung Sidekick platform is to reduce the administrative burden on psychologists, allowing them to spend more time engaging meaningfully with clients. Co-founder Stanley Efrem stated, "Every minute spent on paperwork is a minute less for patient care."

The company noted that this new pre-seed funding will enable them to accelerate product development and introduce new features that streamline supervision, evaluation, and client interactions. For instance, they are launching an AI assistant for therapists to consult with clients. The AI can reference statements made by clients during therapy or remind therapists of specific details about their personal experiences or treatment plans.

Michael Redd, CEO and co-founder of Yung Sidekick, plans to roll out more patient-centric features, such as AI-driven client chats, to create a more comprehensive and effective therapeutic experience for both parties involved in the treatment process.

The platform complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, does not store personal health information or client details, and all reports and notes generated are anonymous. All recordings are immediately deleted after processing. For therapists who prefer not to record therapy sessions, there is a "dictation review" feature.
