The Singapore government recently announced that starting from 2025, all primary and secondary schools will be provided with Artificial Intelligence (AI) course modules ranging from five to ten hours, aimed at cultivating students' digital literacy and AI knowledge. These modules will be known as "Fun AI" and will be rolled out under the "Code for Fun" (CFF) initiative.
According to the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), these modules will offer students more opportunities to explore AI technologies, including understanding what intelligent robots are and training these robots to respond to external signals. These modules will also build on the existing 10-hour CFF modules provided to primary and secondary schools.
In addition to the CFF modules, students will also learn about related digital literacy, such as understanding AI, its uses, risks, and limitations, as well as ethical considerations in the context of learning different subjects at school. Other skills include verifying the credibility of online information sources and the importance of data security, privacy, and responsible online behavior.

Furthermore, teachers will guide students on how to use AI to support their learning and emphasize ethical issues such as academic integrity and proper data handling.
The government will also invest 120 million Singapore dollars in a program called "AI for Science," aimed at developing and adopting AI methods and tools that can be transferred across multiple scientific fields to enhance research efficiency and promote scientific discoveries. This program will also support collaborations between Singaporean researchers and their international counterparts to strengthen Singapore's capabilities and expertise.
As part of the "AI for Science" initiative, the Singapore government will also launch the Smart Nation Educator Scholarship program in 2025 to nurture expert talent in the education sector and enhance students' digital capabilities. The purpose of this scholarship is to cultivate 250 educators with specialized knowledge in digital skills, targeting teacher leaders and senior experts.
