WeChat Video Creation Safety Center has issued an announcement stating that recent platform inspections have revealed that some broadcasters are improperly using AI tools during live streams, leading to misleading viewers and infringing on others' portrait rights. These actions violate the "WeChat Video Account Operation Regulations" and "WeChat Video Account Live Streaming Behavior Regulations," disrupting the platform's healthy ecosystem. The platform will penalize live streams that improperly use AI according to the severity of the violation. Penalties may include, but are not limited to, pop-up reminders, reduced recommendations, interruption of live streams, bans, and deduction or clearing of credit scores.
Specific examples of violations include: using AI technology to impersonate others through face-swapping (including, but not limited to, well-known public figures), infringing on others' legitimate rights; broadcasters sharing content related to finance, law, or medicine must first apply for the corresponding live streaming qualifications. Broadcasters who have completed the qualification application but use AI tools to alter their facial appearance during live streams, causing inconsistencies between the on-screen person and the identity verification during the qualification application, will be considered in violation; teaching and selling courses in the live stream on how to use AI technology to conduct improper live streaming/customer acquisition/profit-making activities.
The platform advocates for using AI technology to assist humans in improving efficiency and optimizing work, but firmly opposes the use of AI technology for improper profit-making or infringement of others' rights. If users discover any violations while watching WeChat Video Account live streams, they can report them through the "Report" function in the "Share" button in the upper right corner of the live stream room. The platform will verify and process the report immediately. The platform takes user complaints very seriously and will strive to maintain a good order on the WeChat Video Account live streaming platform to provide users with a better viewing experience.
