Qualcomm is attempting to enter the personal computer chip market, competing with Intel and AMD. At the Qualcomm annual summit held in Hawaii, the company unveiled its newly designed Oryon CPU and the Snapdragon X Elite chip that integrates this CPU. Tests indicate that the Oryon CPU surpasses Apple's M2 and Intel's i9 in single-threaded performance, while the performance of the Snapdragon X Elite is twice that of an Intel i7 laptop. The Snapdragon X Elite also incorporates a dedicated neural processing unit that supports Llama 2 generative AI, capable of handling 13 billion parameters. Qualcomm has already partnered with PC manufacturers such as HP and plans to release Windows laptops equipped with the Oryon CPU and Snapdragon X Elite chip in mid-2024. Qualcomm aims to penetrate the personal computer market with this new chip, competing with Intel and AMD.
